The Lexington County Fire Service (LCFS) is responsible for protecting the lives, livelihoods and resources of Lexington County by planning and implementing effective strategies to successfully combat loss from fire through prevention, education, rescue, suppression, and investigation services.  LCFS responds to a variety of emergency and non-emergency situations. Firefighters are trained and prepared to respond to a broad array of situations.

Fire Operations is the largest division of the Lexington County Fire Service.  The 258 trained professional career firefighters and over 40 volunteer firefighters within this division work on a rotating 24-hour shift. When “on duty” the firefighters respond to emergency and non-emergency calls.

There are 25 fire stations that are strategically located thought Lexington County to provide fire suppression, medical first response, technical rescue, hazardous material incident response and other life and property protection measures.  Fire stations are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

In 2020 LCFS responded to over 15,691 calls for service. Lexington County consists of 758 square miles with an estimated population of over 307,022.
